Wayne Paul-Bazil
Wayne Paul-Bazil is an experienced anesthesia provider with a strong track record in the hospital and healthcare industry. He holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree with a concentration in Healthcare Systems Leadership and Management, as well as a Master of Science (MS) in Nurse Anesthesia. His expertise spans clinical research, anesthesia, and critical care. He is a dedicated advocate for global health, actively promoting and participating in medical-surgical mission trips to Guyana, South America, and across the Caribbean. Wayne is also recognized for his commitment to addressing healthcare disparities and serves as a mentor to allied health professionals and students.

Claude Scott, M.D
Dr. Claude B Scott is an Orthopedic Surgery Specialist in Brooklyn, New York. He has served on H.E.R.O.’s Board of Directors since 2016, participated in 10+ missions and is currently the Vice President. He graduated with honors in 1988 from New York University School of Medicine. Dr. Scott has more than 30 years of diverse experiences, especially in orthopedic surgery, He is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including NYC Health and Hospitals/Coney Island and New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.

Secretary
Dr. Veronica Wiltshire
Dr. Veronica Wiltshire is a board-certified Pediatrician. She is the former Chief Medical Officer for United Health Centers in Winston Salem and Joseph P Addabbo Family health in Queens New York. She is currently at Atrium One health Pediatrics in Winston Salem, North Carolina. During her time in New York, as chief medical officer she was instrumental in leading six clinics during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. Together with her team, she was able to help set up the first COVID-19 tent testing in Far Rockaway, Queens New York enabling access to COVID-19 testing to hundreds of people in what was deemed a “hot zone”.

Kenrick Cort
Kenrick Cort is President and CEO of Tri-Borough Home Care in New York City and Family Care Certified Agency in Nassau County, Long Island. Mr. Cort is currently one of the active Board Members of H.E.R.O. and has been a volunteer with the organization since 2005. He was elected to the board of directors in 2008 and currently serves as Director of the Educational Program in Guyana.

Dr. John E. Mitchell
John E Mitchell has volunteered with H.E.R.O. for over a decade, has participated in more than 20 missions as the Coordinator of our Surgical Outreach Program and is currently a board member at H.E.R.O. Dr. Mitchell is a Trauma Surgeon and is the Director of Trauma/Acute Care Surgery Unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center. He received his Bachelor’s degree in biology from York College of CUNY and his degree in medicine from SUNY Downstate.

Dr. Wayne Sampson
Dr. Wayne Sampson is a founding member of the Health and Educational Relief Organization (HERO). Born in Silvertown, Wismar, he attended Wismar Hill Primary school and completed his secondary education at Mackenzie High by way of the Christianburg Multilateral School. Upon migrating to the United States from Guyana in 1983, he enrolled at Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn and completed his undergraduate degree in Chemistry at Brooklyn College.

Dr. Orintha King
Dr. Orinthia King has volunteered with H.E.R.O. since 2012 and joined its Board of Directors in 2016. Starting as a medical resident, she now serves as an attending physician on missions in Guyana. She earned her medical degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her Emergency Medicine residency at Jacobi/Montefiore. Driven by a passion for clinical ultrasonography, she pursued a fellowship at New York Methodist Hospital. Currently, she is the Director of Point of Care Ultrasound at a New York community hospital, where she focuses on resident education, clinical care, and serving underserved populations.

Sharon J. Ackah, JD
Sharon Ackah has been a member of H.E.R.O. since 2012, serving as the organization’s legal counsel. She is a practicing attorney who also serves on the Soldiers Medical Evaluation Board, where she represents soldiers undergoing medical disability evaluation and possible separation from military duty.

Ieshia King-O’loughlin
Ieshia has volunteered with H.E.R.O. since 2014, was elected to its board of directors in 2016 and is currently serving as the Secretary. She directs the organization’s education program and works with our partners in Guyana to organize the summer initiative providing resources and tutoring support to children performing below grade level in reading, writing, and mathematics.
Currently, Ieshia is an Audit Manager at Citibank N.A. and she has previously served as a Senior Tax Associate at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, LLC (PwC). She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University at Albany and her Master of Business Administration in Taxation from Hofstra University.

Jacqueline Gulstone, Ph.D., R.N, CNS, FNP-BC
Dr. Jacqueline Gulstone is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, a Nurse Entrepreneur, and Assistant Professor of Nursing. She holds a Master’s degree in Nursing, a Doctorate in Health Care Administration and a Fellowship in Leadership and Management. She is also a longtime member of H.E.R.O. and currently serving as the secretary and treasurer of the organization.
