Surgical
Project
Established in 2007 as Operation Kidcare, the HERO Surgical Program began by addressing "Clubfoot" in children and has since expanded to correct various lower extremity deformities, with a current focus on Congenital Hip Dysplasia. Our volunteer surgeons have performed over 200 procedures on children from three months to their late teens and have trained staff at the Georgetown Hospital in Guyana.
Our surgical program has also grown to include gynecology, arthroscopic surgeries for ligament injuries, breast reductions for symptomatic women, corrective surgeries for cleft lip and palate, and vascular surgeries for kidney failure patients. Future plans include breast reconstruction for breast cancer survivors and scoliosis correction in children. HERO is deeply grateful to the specialists who volunteer their expertise and to our donors whose tax-deductible contributions support our humanitarian missions.
